Social Justice vs Socialism

You may be aware, Glenn Beck made some comments on his radio/TV shows that (depending on who you talk to) were either taken wildly out of context, or were pretty inflammatory against social justice.

But that was a few months ago, and people have kinda quieted down about it. But with Glenn Beck's recent commencement address at Liberty University...well...some attention has come back to it.

You can check out some of those videos posted on Matthew Paul Turner's site up at JesusNeedsNewPR.net which includes videos from both Glenn Beck & Jerry Falwell.

The problem is that there seems to be an ever increasing amount of prominent evangelical pastors who are supporting Beck's ideology. Which, again depending on how you interpret it, becomes more controversial as time goes on.

I'm proud to say that my pastor is not one of them. He doesn't have national pull as others do, but he's speaking about it to those whom he does have influence. And saying that Glenn Beck does not speak for Christianity, that he speaks for himself and not for a church. That no political talk show host, personality, politician, celebrity or otherwise has business influencing where people do or do not go to church.

We had a sermon on Social Justice vs Socialism just two weeks ago. This was the promo for it. He was very intentional about trying to not make this entirely about Glenn Beck, or an attack against him or his followers. But more about the ideology being presented. And what social justice means for our church.

Check out the video. What do you think?
